Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Welcome To The Light-Washed Path,
There is nothing more essential to the Christian walk than faith. If you can operate in genuine God-like faith, then all Heaven is opened to you. If you can’t seem to get from blind wishing to focused faith, then all the promises of God’s Word will do you little good in this life. To speak with God you must know His language, faith. Every praise, plea, complaint and petition will be heard by God when expressed through faith. But the most brilliantly crafted legal case will fall on deaf ears if it’s argued before God without faith.
Here are some important facts about faith:
God has given every Christian faith. Rom. 12:3 …according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Your faith can grow. 2 Th. 1:3 …your faith grows exceedingly
Your faith can increase with use. Luke 17:5 Lord, Increase our faith.
Faith can come to you by hearing God’s Word. Rom. 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Through faith ANYTHING in God’s Word is possible to you. Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou can believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Without faith you cannot possibly please God. Heb. 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God
Faith based in Jesus, God will honor.
John 6:35 he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
John 6:47 He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
John 12:46 whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
John 14:12 He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do…
When all these statements from God’s Word are considered together, it becomes apparent that faith is a quality of the Spirit of God; and that it is produced by the effect of God’s Word upon a receptive heart. In short, the status of your faith can change dramatically from day to day, all depending upon the condition of your heart, relative to God’s Word. Two things are certain:
Number one: Apart from faith you will never relate with God. And, Number two: In the face of all that God has provided, giving us access to His Spirit and Word, there is no excuse for the lack of faith. With these things understood, let’s now begin to explore the Secrets of Faith. Here are a couple focus statements to help bring our attention to a point of proper reason:
Faith is not believing that ’something will happen’. And, Faith is not believing that ‘things will turnout OK, because I believe in Jesus’.
Instead, faith is asking God for something that you expect Him to give you, and are prepared to trust Him for. In all fairness to reason, how could it be faith if we have no expectation? We may leave our minds open to the Creator’s provision, but to expect nothing is an indication of the absence of faith.
True biblical faith, the kind that Jesus asked us to have, and said would move mountains and obtain answers from the Father, is not unfocused, irrational wishing. But true God-like faith is the specific exercise of our covenant relationship with the Father through His Son Jesus. Simply put, faith is believing and acting upon the Truth. God loves to be approached with faith. The greater the faith, the greater His joy in responding. Our exploits of faith bring glory to Jesus, and further demonstrate His claims to have made us sons of God.
The secrets of faith are found in WHAT, WHY and HOW you believe. We are going to look at WHAT you believe for, WHY you believe it, and HOW you exercise your faith. We are going to take a walk through the science lab of faith and begin to examine what the secrets to successful faith are as well as what they are not.
To keep the all-important perspective, let’s remember, faith is the key to successfully talking with God! Tomorrow is Lesson One, so…
