FAITH SECRETS-7 “How Can I Believe?”

Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Welcome To The Light-Washed Path,

From, “Secrets Of Faith”:

There is nothing more essential to the Christian walk than faith. If you can operate in genuine God-like faith, then all Heaven is opened to you. If you can’t seem to get from blind wishing to focused faith, then all the promises of God’s Word will do you little good in this life. To speak with God you must know His language, faith. Every praise, plea, complaint and petition will be heard by God when expressed through faith. But the most brilliantly crafted legal case will fall on deaf ears if it’s argued before God without faith.

The secrets to faith are discovered in the WHAT, WHY AND HOW to believe. We’ve covered, WHAT and WHY. If you’re solid on those points you can now look at HOW to believe and these principles will work for you. First let’s make a simple statement that will sum up the HOW TO part of faith:

Fix your faith on something YOU can believe.

As elementary as that may sound, it actually conveys as profound truth. You cannot possibly exercise faith for something that you can’t believe. It contradicts the nature of faith. Many people pray for things they have no business believing for, not because their request isn’t within the will of God, but because THEY don’t believe it can happen. Until YOU can believe, there’s no use in trying to exercise faith through prayer. You’ll only end up in discouragement and possibly even mistakenly disillusioned with God. Notice how Jesus usually said or did things that gave people something they could believe in, a contact point for their faith, a word in which they could exercise their faith.

John 11:23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.

John 11:24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Do you believe this?

Jesus knows that in order for faith to arise in your heart so that a miracle can pass through its (your faith’s) hands, you must be able to believe. At the grave of Lazarus, Jesus realizes that there’s simply NO WAY that Martha can figure out HOW her brother might live again. And that means that the question of HOW to believe must be satisfied by a Word of assurance from Him, as the Lord of Life, instead of figuring out the mechanics of a miracle. Jesus gave Martha a Word that would satisfy her question of HOW. That word focused her on His authority and ability. In other words, if we believe that God sent Jesus with all power and authority to execute His perfect will; then we can find His specific Words that relate to our circumstances, and exercise our faith through them. I don’t have to know HOW to heal the sick. I know HOW to believe that Jesus has the authority to heal the sick. Jesus proclaimed His authority and mandate to heal sickness and oppression at the beginning of His ministry in Nazareth recorded in Luke 4:18-21

“THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME,

BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR.

HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES,

AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND,

TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED,

TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD.”

And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him.

And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.

Then Jesus spent over 3 years demonstrating that it was the Father’s absolute perfect will to heal ALL that came to Him.

Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing ALL that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

The simple point is that His Words attract our faith like lightening rods. I can see HOW to believe when I focus with understanding on Jesus’ promises. My need to know ‘HOW to believe’ is satisfied by the Word of God, because I see it authorized in Jesus, the Living Word:

Psa. 107:20 He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Jesus, as the Word that was sent, demonstrated that he is the Living Word; living out the exact meaning of the Word. He is the perfect representation of God. He knew you needed a way to believe and made certain that you could see the faithfulness of God’s Word in Himself. Jesus is HOW you can believe for miracle provision. Has He said it? Did He do it? Did He ever deny it to faithful seekers? Keep your eyes on Jesus and His Word, and tomorrow we’ll take another step. So until then…
